In the heart of East Frisia, close to the North Sea coast with the East Frisian islands and in the immediate vicinity of the Dutch border, we founded Hotel Preyt in 2022 and freshly renovated and refurbished it during the pandemic.

May we briefly introduce ourselves?

We are Harald and Kerstin Freudenberg, together for over 20 years, married and parents of 2 great children, still not tired of buying and renovating old buildings...Yes, we fell in love with this traditional gem in 2021 and decided to combine history and modernity with the renovation.

In addition to the new roof and the new outdoor area, it is probably the new cosy interior design and the tastefully remodelled bathrooms that make our guests feel completely at home here. The option of self-check-in also offers you as a guest many advantages. You can now check in quickly and conveniently around the clock, regardless of the time and language, and still enjoy all the benefits of an excellent hotel.

A little more about the history...
Hotel Preyt has a long tradition. It is known that as early as 1780 there was a restaurant where you could relax. As early as 1845, the then official of the Royal Hannoverse Road, the landlord Harbert Preyt, was appointed toll road official.Today's Hotel Preyt was built in 1927 by Mr Martien Preyt.Part of it, where our conference room is located today, was a clothing shop.
In 1959, the Hotel Preyt was taken over by the Schulze family and managed for 46 years. In 2005, the Dutch investor Bert Jansen bought the property and renamed it ‘Hotel Felicitas’ after renovating it. The Mongolian restaurant ‘Goldener Adler’ moved into the adjoining restaurant, which soon became very popular. After almost 2 years of vacancy, we bought and renovated the main building and the outbuilding and renamed it ‘Hotel Preyt’ again.

We and many East Frisians are extremely happy that we were able to preserve this gem and bring it into the present day. The overwhelming response to the reopening in June 2023 has certainly shown us that.We are also delighted that the Mediterranean restaurant Milano was able to open in the building at the same time and thank you for the great cooperation!Special thanks also go to our hotel manager Bianca Krüger, who was at our side during the planning and renovation phase and spent many an hour pondering and planning with us.

Whether wedding guests, business people, holidaymakers, company groups/conference participants, cyclists or travellers passing through, we have already been able to inspire many guests with our hotel rooms and hope to be able to welcome you soon!

Sincerely
Kerstin and Harald Freudenberg
